Billy the Builder

A few weeks ago in Austin I did a follow up workshop with a group of teachers creating WebQuests for self-contained classrooms of kids with severe cognitive, social and emotional challenges. My hat's off to these teachers! They have it rougher than most. One of them, Beth Leonard, has already completed her first WebQuest, a lesson on Water Pollution and the tension between developers and environmentalists. I wanted to highlight it here because it's a great example of how you can modify the model to meet the needs of a hard-to-reach population. What really charmed me, though, was the use of illustrations that Beth made herself. Handmade drawings have a lot of appeal. Aren't we all tired of seeing the same old FrontPage clip art?
